Each year the Shrewsbury Garden Club offers a scholarship(s) to further the education of Shrewsbury residents in the fields of horticulture, landscaping, environmental studies or related fields.

This year 2024, three  graduating Shrewsbury High School seniors, Madison Rubley , Taran Udayabanu and Kyra Tompsetta each received  a $1000 scholarship.

Madison  has been involved in many activities as a field hockey player, ski team racer and a softball player. She was a member of the National English Honor Society. She hopes to become a photographer for National Geographic.

Taran has been a member of the Worcester Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the track and field team  at the High School. He has also been a math tutor for Indian Society of Worcester. He started a Youtube program about wildlife and ecosystems preservation, climate change and negative impact on the environment.  He wants to share his passion for science and  the natural world. Taran is planning on attending UMass Amherst to pursue a major in Biology with an emphasis on wildlife.

Kyra has always been fascinated by the beauty of our natural world; she enjoys hiking and skiing, swimming and exploring the National Parks. She joined the Marine Biology Club in hope of educating others about marine health and the dangers of plastic pollution and also participated in the Trout Program where she raised native Massachusetts trout. She has volunteered at the St. Johns food for the poor program where she worked on a food waste program. Kyra plans on attending UMass Amherst majoring in Environmental Science.
