Each year the Shrewsbury Garden Club offers a scholarship(s) to further the education of Shrewsbury residents in the fields of horticulture, landscaping, environmental studies or related fields.

2017 Scholarship Recipients

The Shrewsbury Garden Club is happy to announce this year’s Scholarship recipients. This year two $1000 scholarships were awarded to, Jacob Yankee and Cecila Bolon.

Jacob Yankee is a freshman in the Commonwealth Honors Program at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst majoring in Natural Resources Conservation with a concentration in wildlife ecology. A graduate honor student from Shrewsbury High School, Jacob volunteered at Broad Meadow Brook as a summer day councilor and was a member of the Broad Meadow Brook Sanctuary Maintenance Team.

Cecila Bolan a senior honor student at Shrewsbury High School plans to attend Northeastern University majoring in Environmental Engineering. Cecila attended the Conserve School in Wisconsin studying environmental science with 59 other high school students from around the country and for two summers, through the Green School Alliance, attended the Student Climate and Conservation Congress
